The Cor Deo School has a long history in shaping Tacoma-area students. For nearly 50 years, it operated as First Presbyterian Church School (FPCS). FPCS has been providing an excellent educational experience for families in the South Sound; first as a preschool (now First Presbyterian Preschool) and then expanding in 2001 to include kindergarten through fifth grade. The Cor Deo School’s Grammar School (K-5th) continues to be operated as a ministry of First Presbyterian Church, while our Upper School (beginning with 6th–8th in 2018-19) operates as its own non-profit entity.
Approaching every activity and subject through the lens of God’s love, we seek to not only impart knowledge, but to also provide a strong spiritual foundation.We offer a challenging academic program centered on strong language, reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, encouraging each one to join in the “great conversation” of the ages. Chapel is held each week affording the opportunity to learn more about the character of God through the story of God. With small class sizes, our exemplary teaching staff lead students through the core curriculum. Specialist classes are also an integral part of our program, offering physical education, Latin, music, and art.
We are the only classical Christian private school in Tacoma, Washington that is a member of the Association of Classical & Christian Schools, a national accrediting institution, and we are excited to meet you.
