This week we celebrate our eighth grade graduates! Our first eight grade class, blazing a trail for future Knights. Today we honor Ben Carlson. Ben has served his fellow students well as 2019-20 Olympic House Tournament Leader. Read more about the role opportunities for friendly competition have played in Ben’s schooling, in his own words:
One of the most memorable events at Cor Deo was the Olympiad because one of the things I enjoy most in life is athletics. A sport that I enjoyed earlier [my seventh grade] year was track. Sprinting, the long jump, and shotput were my chosen events. One of the most exciting elements about track was placing in multiple categories. At the end of the year, the whole school participates in the Olympiad, a one-day athletic event in the spring. Students are allowed to wear spirit clothes, and families are able to come if they desire. First, we did the running events, including the one hundred-, four hundred- ,and eight hundred-meter races. After that, we ate lunch and socialized. For the remainder of the day, we played other enjoyable games such as a softball throwing competition, soccer, and tug-of-war. Track and the Olympiad are some of my favorite memories from my time at Cor Deo.
